An Apology

This website sure has been neglected this week. I haven’t quit, don’t worry, I’ve just had so much other stuff that needed taking care of. I had to get my car fixed again after it broke down and left me stranded in Harrisburg on Saturday. That was misery. I had to get my car towed which ended up taking a good portion of the day because the tow truck took two hours to get to me. I’ve had this car for less than two weeks and I already needed to get it fixed twice.

Monday was my 22nd birthday and I’ve had to train new people at work plus I worked a twelve-hour day today. My head is pounding from a tension headache and I just don’t have time or energy to put out anything of any quality. Next week will be better, please bear with me.

This shouldn’t be a problem anyway, Megatokyo and Mac Hall miss updates all the time and everyone loves them. Look for the madness here to continue next week when hopefully I’m not so busy.

Be excellent to each other.

All About Coffee

Hey Guys, I'm updating this at 5:00am, so this is going to be short and sweet.

We're back from Purple Door 2003. I'll get into that later on today, since I have to be at work in about an hour.

Have fun.

For those of you aren't at all familiar with Purple Door, it's a large, music festival for the Contemporary Christian Music that's too good to play on CCM radio. If you preorder you can get in for about $25 and see a good dozen bands. Most of them are pretty good, and it's always a good place to hear someone new to the scene. It's also a great place to get excellent, cheap music. There is, of course, the merchendise building, where all the bands sell their latest albums, usually for around $12 - $15. There's also the RadRockers tent. The RadRockers sell rare and discount CDs from nearly every Christian band imagineable. When I say discount I mean $2 to $6 CDs! It's incredible, some of my friends walk away with 6 or 8 albums, having only dropped about $40.

I'm not a follower of the music scene, so most of the bands left me unphased as I either had never heard of them, or wasn't particularly interested in seeing them. So I didn't get too excited until I found out that a few of my favorites were not gong to be there! And that kind of annoyed me. Fortunately, there was at least one pleasant surprise in the form of The Benjamin's Gate. They had a little bit of a different sound, and a British, female lead. I was also impressed with the Five Iron Frenzy show, they put on a really good one, and it'll be a shame to see them go. They're doing their farewell tour, so you should really try to check them out if you get the chance.

The main thing that struck me about Purple Door this year was the rain. It rained nearly the entire time. The show kept going, despite hour long delays, but everything was soaked. By the end of the night there was just torrential downpour. Everyone had to leave and I don't think the last band got to play, which is kind of sad, since I don't think anyone else got left out.

All in all, it was a mediocre experience for me. I probably won't go next year, and I promise I will never do another rainy Purple Door unless we come with tents.
